Dr. Lurate began performing the first arthroscopic reconstructions for shoulder instability in this area in 1995/1996. He has performed the first laparoscopic lumbar spine fusions in this area and is among only a tiny fraction of orthopaedic surgeons in the world able to perform the Minimal Invasive 2 incision technique of total hip repalcement. All of these procedures require a dedication to excellence, attention to detail, and well-developed surgical skill for success. In addition, sound clinical judgement is a must for matching the proper technique to the appropriate candidate.
While in many cases, Dr. Lurate remains the only one in the area performing such services, he predicts times will change. As patients become more knowledgeable, and generalized training in these areas becomes more routine, many of these techniques will become the standard of care in the next 10-15 years.
