DR. LURATE
DR. CAYLOR

Fortunately, when non-operative methods fail to solve the problem, surgery frequently can. Whether it be a microscopic discectomy of the spine or an arthroscopic shoulder repair, Dr. Lurate is committed to restoring function through surgery with a minimal amount of trauma to the human body. Dr. Lurate began performing the first arthroscopic reconstructions for shoulder instability in this area in 1995/1996. He has performed the first laparoscopic lumbar spine fusions in this area and is among only a tiny fraction of orthopaedic surgeons in the world able to perform the Minimal Invasive 2 incision technique of total hip repalcement. All of these procedures require a dedication to excellence, attention to detail, and well-developed surgical skill for success. In addition, sound clinical judgement is a must for matching the proper technique to the appropriate candidate.

While in many cases, Dr. Lurate remains the only one in the area performing such services, he predicts times will change. As patients become more knowledgeable, and generalized training in these areas becomes more routine, many of these techniques will become the standard of care in the next 10-15 years. Total knee replacement was felt to be a radical procedure 20 - 25 years ago. Now it is a common procedure which most orthopaedic surgeons fresh out of training can perform with predictably good results.

In this section you will find examples of Dr. Lurate's work which represent some of the most difficult and complex problems an orthopaedic surgeon can face. The impressive results offer an idea of the possibilities of modern surgical reconstruction techniques. While the vast majority of patients have much less severe problems, it is our opinion that similar attention to detail and commitment to excellence is warranted for all patients. Our concept is that there is no such thing as "minor surgery." Please click on the body part of interest, to view some of these case.
